Information about NA Meetings

All NA Meetings are open to the public

Board and/or general membership meetings typically take place on the second Thursday of the month starting at 7pm. Various committee meetings can occur at other times. Our calendar as well as the most recent blog posts are typically the best places for information about upcoming meetings and events.

All meetings are open to the public, and there is no need to pre-register. In this not-quite-post-Covid era, some meetings are held in person, others are remote, with a mix of both at times. Meeting agendas are typically posted 48 hours before the meeting and include specific information about location or connection information.

If you are seeking formal endorsement for a particular position or idea, please refer to our Public Endorsement Policy and Procedure.

Although all meetings are open to the public, the level of participation varies depending on the type of meeting.

Annual Meeting and Board Election

The main annual general meeting occurs once a year (in the Spring or early Summer) and member participation is very important and active since this is the meeting at which members are asked to vote to elect board members or even run as a potential board member.

There is no need to have been involved with the Neighborhood Association before coming to this meeting. All members of the public are welcome to participate keeping in mind that a formal vote is reserved for Sunnyside residents (as well non-resident property owners and representatives of businesses or organizations within Sunnyside boundaries).

General Membership Meetings

Other general meetings occur throughout the year, often just before or after a board meeting. General meetings are a place where all members can voice their opinions, participate in any conversation taking place as well as vote in support or against any motion brought up during the meeting.

General meetings typically have particular subject matters being discussed as presented in an agenda, but there is also an opportunity to bring new subject matters (some of which might then be put on the agenda to be further discussed at later meetings). Members also are welcome to contact the board at [email protected] and ask whether they can present or bring a matter to the next meeting. If you are seeking formal endorsement for a particular position or idea, please refer to our Public Endorsement Policy and Procedure.

Board Meetings

Board meetings occur typically monthly, often just before or after a general meeting. Board meetings are a place where elected board members discuss internal operational or administrative issues and vote on related matters.

Board meetings have particular subject matters being discussed as presented in an agenda.

Although open to all, board meetings do not offer members of the public an opportunity to voice their concerns or present information unless they are specifically being called to do so by board members. As such, voting is restricted to board members present.

Committee Meetings

Committee meetings occur typically monthly, or whenever a committee team feels the need to meet.

Special committees are created based on specific needs and as such can change over time. The various committees typically share a summary of their activities during the general meetings and committee chairs can answer questions at that time, so attending the next general meeting is a great way to get acquainted with committees and decide whether you want to attend their meetings.

Alternatively, committee meetings are open to the public and all are welcome to attend without first going to a general meeting.
